What is a CS2 case opening site?

A CS2 case opening site sells its own cases of Counter-Strike skins, which you open with a balance instead of a $2.49 Valve key. The site picks the skins in each case and sets its own odds, and the cheapest cases we found cost about 30 cents: 0.29 USD on Farmskins and 0.30 USD on OpenStars. Most sites also run case battles, an upgrader and a free daily case on the same balance.

The best CS2 case opening sites show the odds on the case page, so you know your chance before you pay. The worst show nothing.

Do case opening sites have better odds than Steam?

Not by rule. Each site sets its own odds case by case, so compare the chance of the skin you want. Valve’s odds are the same for every case (SteamAnalyst):

Valve had to publish those odds when Counter-Strike launched in China (Wikipedia). A site’s case needs no $2.49 key, and if you want one particular skin, a market sells it to you at a price you see first, as on the best CS2 trading sites. Whether cases count as gambling is also in court. New York’s Attorney General sued Valve in February 2026 saying they do (NY Attorney General), and Valve asked the court to dismiss the case in May 2026 (Courthouse News).

Which CS2 case opening sites show the odds?

Datdrop, Hellcase and OpenStars print the odds of every skin in every case, and Chicken.GG puts an odds bar on each case, with a drop-rate filter above the list. On Hellcase the expensive skins sit on tiny ranges, and in one 0.50 USD case we looked at, the top Desert Eagle had a 0.02% chance. Farmskins is the one to watch. None of its cases shows a chance, and it has no provably fair page, so you are trusting it on every drop.

How do you open a case on a CS2 site?

Opening a case works the same way on every site here.

1. Deposit skins, crypto or cash, and the site turns it into a balance.
2. Pick a case, and check the odds of the skins in it if the site shows them.
3. Try it first if you can. Datdrop’s simulator mode and OpenStars’ Demo button open a case for free, with no reward.
4. Open it. The skin, or its value, lands on your site account.
5. Withdraw when you are ready.

The withdrawal is where the sites differ. Only Hellcase and Farmskins send the exact skin you opened to Steam. Clash.gg, Chicken.GG, CSGOEmpire, Datdrop and SkinRave pay out skins you pick from a market with your balance, and OpenStars and 500 Casino put the value on your balance. Hellcase turns an item you leave for 30 days back into balance, and Farmskins wants a 4 USD deposit before it sends any skin to Steam. A skin you withdraw is Trade Protected for 7 days after it arrives, so you cannot trade it on straight away (Steam Support).

Where can you open free CS2 cases?

Are CS2 case sites legit or rigged?

We rate all 9 CS2 case sites on this list as legit, and each names the company behind it. Provably fair means the site shows a hash of its secret seed before you open and reveals the seed after, so you can check the roll was not changed. Datdrop lets you check every roll with your server seed, and its player versus player games use a random.org ticket, so nobody at Datdrop can pick a winner. OpenStars keeps a history of your seed pairs, SkinRave’s solo games use a server seed, your own client seed and a nonce, and Chicken.GG checks its results against a future EOS block. Clash.gg and CSGOEmpire make every game checkable after the round, and 500 Casino’s verifier covers its cases among its 11 house games.

Hellcase shows the odds and lets you look up where your roll landed, although it does not show how the roll is made, so its review calls it odds you can see rather than a seed you can verify. Farmskins shows neither. The bigger risk is a fake copy of a real site, so type the address yourself and sign in only through Steam’s own page. Is CSGO case opening the same as CS2 case opening?

Yes. CSGO became CS2 in 2023, and every skin and knife from CS:GO moved over to the new game (Wikipedia). So the CSGO case opening sites that are still open are CS2 case opening sites now.
