What is a blue gem in CS2?
A blue gem is a Case Hardened or Heat Treated skin whose paint seed puts mostly blue on the weapon. The seed, a number from 0 to 1000, decides where the pattern sits and how it turns, so every seed shows its own share of blue, purple and gold. Every knife but the Falchion is scored on the play side and the back side, the AK-47 on its top and its magazine, and the other guns on one side. How blue a seed can get depends on the weapon: the bluest Karambit seed shows 97.7%, the bluest Shadow Daggers seed 60.7%.
How do you check if a Case Hardened skin is a blue gem?
Copy the skin's inspect link from Steam and paste it into the inspect link box of the blue gem checker: the link carries the paint seed and the float, and the checker opens the skin at both. You can also inspect the skin in CS2 and open its details: the Pattern Template is its paint seed, also called the pattern index. Type it into the seed box to see its share of blue, purple and gold and its rank among all 1,001 seeds.
What is the best blue gem?
By the share of blue, the best AK-47 seed is 661, with 97.6% on the top. Each weapon has its own top seed. On the Karambit it is 387 on the play side (97.7%) and 417 on the back side (97.6%). On the Talon Knife it is 55 on the play side, at 97.8% the highest share on any skin the checker covers, and 905 on the back side (97.7%). What are the bluest AK-47 Case Hardened seeds?
By blue on the top, the 5 bluest AK-47 seeds are 661 (97.6%), 955 (96.5%), 387 (95.3%), 179 (95.1%) and 670 (94.8%). Only 10 of the 1,001 seeds reach 90% blue on the top. On the magazine, seed 29 is the bluest, at 85.6%.
How is the blue percentage measured?
The blue gem checker's percentages come from csgo-blue-gem-calculator, an open-source package that counts the blue pixels in each seed's pattern. Its documentation lists csgoskins.gg among the sites that show the same values. The package gives purple and gold shares too, and the checker can rank by any of the three.
Which seeds are blue on both sides?
Seeds blue on both sides have a high share of blue on the play side and the back side at once, and the blue gem checker's Both option ranks them first. On the Karambit, seed 303 leads with 80.7% on the play side and 82.5% on the back side. Seed 269 is bluer on the play side, 94.1%, but has 78.7% on the back, so it ranks third.
Does wear change a blue gem?
Wear does not move a blue gem's pattern or change its blue percentage, but it does scratch and darken the paint, more as the float rises. Move the wear slider in the blue gem checker to see a seed from Factory New, under 0.07, to Battle-Scarred, 0.45 and up.
